The Waggery is looking for another person to join the team, primarily in grooming to assist with washing and drying dog (the opportunity is there to become a groomer), but also to assist occasionally in the shop.
The successful candidate’s duties and responsibilities will include:
- Washing and drying dogs
- Preparing the days registrations, making the grooming manager aware of any dogs coming in with special needs / instructions and marking up the roster
- Welcoming and settling in dogs
- Keep clean and sterilised at all times the washing and grooming areas, approaching areas and the shop as well as other general day to day duties
Once more experienced…
- Answering the phone
- Taking bookings
- Cutting / grooming!
- To be considered for this position you must meet all of the following criteria:
- Live close enough to work to not make the commute a reason for being late.
- Totally reliable with excellent time keeping
- It is paramount you understand and love pups and dogs and have proven experience with pups and dogs. We are not expecting professional handling qualifications but you will be assessed on confidence with all sizes and breed, what is and what is not acceptable behaviour and how to manage the pups and dogs.
- Be very calm and honest, friendly, diligent and responsible
- Have a legal right to live and work in the UK
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Accept that an offer may subject to a CRB / background check.

Grooming experience would be an advantage but is not essential.
This is an excellent opportunity for the right person to commence immediately
Hours – generally between 8.45am and 2.45 pm – Tuesday – Saturday. You may be asked to work additional (paid) hours in the week and on Saturdays or when covering for others holiday leave.
Pay - £8/ph
Our team occasionally take a dog or two home for sleepovers (paid of course). If you have appropriate housing and are happy to do this as well please highlight on your application.
