Salary: £75 - £80,000 plus allowances depending on circumstances
Blue Water Energy LLP is an investment advisor to BWE LP, GP, the Guernsey-domiciled General Partner of Blue Water Energy Fund I, LP (“Blue Water Energy”). Blue Water Energy will invest in a wide array of management teams and companies across the global energy sector, particularly in the upstream oil & gas, oil field services and the midstream/downstream spaces. Based at our London headquarters, we are looking for an Associate to identify, evaluate and execute investment opportunities. You will also monitor the operations of and provide strategic advice to portfolio companies. Typical responsibilities will include conducting company and industry due diligence, working with legal and financial advisors on transaction structure alternatives, assisting with financings and associated capital raises, and assisting in negotiations with counterparties.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
DEAL IDENTIFICATION
Play an integral role in the structure and evaluation of preliminary transactions, including the construction and maintenance of a weekly Active Deal Log
As part of a small core team, work to build key relationships within key sectors of the Energy space to enable the sourcing of high-quality deals
DEAL EVALUATION / EXECUTION
Primary point of contact in building and sensitising financial models to analyse potential and current investments
Develop comprehensive preliminary and final investment memorandum materials for presentation to the Blue Water Energy Investment Committee
Liaise with management teams of various portfolio companies to effectively evaluate transactions and continue to build relationships with these individuals to enable continued, value-added reporting and monitoring on a monthly basis
Complete comprehensive business, accounting, tax, legal, HR and other due diligence work streams as part of the evaluation of investment opportunities
PORTFOLIO MONITORING
Attend Annual Meetings, participate in conference calls, and cover Oher manager functions and meetings as needed.
Work with team members to monitor portfolio transactions, review quarterly reports / valuations, portfolio performance, maintain transaction database, etc.
Work with team members to continue to build out portfolio monitoring capabilities (standard reports and analytics, etc.)
ESSENTIAL
Strong interpersonal, management, analytical and communication skills.
Availability to travel as needed.
Ability to work independently and creatively.
Bachelor’s degree required, Finance / economics / accounting background preferred.
3-6 years of experience in a combination of energy private equity and energy investment banking, with strong financial modelling and analytical expertise.
