Job Description
The Bookkeeper is responsible for the following tasks:
- Preparing invoices and controlling all outstanding invoices and ensuring prompt payment.
 - Processing monthly petty cash sheets.
 - Claiming tax relief on gift aid
 - Maintaining a file of and checking direct debit payments.
 - Filing of all accounting documentation.
 - Maintaining all financial records and data accurately and within agreed systems.
 - Entering all transactions on our accounting software Sage50.
 - Preparing and submitting our VAT returns quarterly.
 - Maintaining the purchase ledger - entering suppliers’ invoices on the system ensuring that they are properly authorized, preparing cheques at the appropriate time, arranging signature and dispatching.
 - Paying staff and interns expenses ensuring they are properly authorized, preparing cheques, arranging signature and dispatching
 - Banking of all cheques and cash as required. Preparing and photocopying
 - deposit slips and posting to the accounts. Ensuring that the amount banked
 - agrees with the lists prepared on the opening of the post.
 - Paying the monthly salaries of 2 Employees. Reconciling the payroll nominal ledger accounts.
 - Using Sage50 to undertake weekly reconciliations of our main bank account
 - and monthly reconciliations of our Euro Account.
 - Processing the monthly BACS payments and maintaining accurate records of authorisation.
 
Must have at least 3 years experience as a full time bookkeeper. References required.
Needed 2 full days or 4 half days a week- can be flexible.
Holiday pay pro-rata.
