Home Helper Jobs in London UK 2011
We live with our daughter who is a medical student and our son who is an IT apprentice. We also have a small and very friendly Yorkshire Terrier dog called Dolly. Wembley is in the Bakerloo line and is thus within easy reach of central London and has excellent transport links
In addition we host up to five Foreign Students who have come to London for a period of time to improve their English. These students may stay from one week to one year. The house is quite a size and so requires considerable effort to keep it properly serviced. We have eight bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, three reception rooms and many stairs as the house is arranged over three floors.
Our idea is that the Home Help will work for us for 20 hours a week. The Home Help will then be free to work the rest of the week elsewhere to make some more money and/or study
The precise times of the work will have to be agreed but it is vital that the Home Help can be flexible. There will be one day a week off with no duties to perform.
We would like to take a live in Home Help specifically to assist with;
- General cleaning
- Preparing the bedrooms for new students and cleaning them once a week
- Cooking in the evening and clearing the kitchen after the evening meal.
- Clothes washing and some ironing
From time to time my wife and I go away for 7-10 days at a time. We need the Home Help to be left in charge of the house and responsible for the smooth running of the house for the benefit of the student guests while we are away. We are always contactable when we are away.
The Home Help will need to be;
- hardworking and self motivated;
- have a range of cooking skills (although we will be able to help teach cooking to build up the skills)
- have good English communication skills
- be able to clean to a high standard in an efficient manner
- Be able to communicate with the Foreign Students and resolve any problems they have while we are away.
What we can offer in return is;
- A big and clean room at no cost
- Halfboard accommodation
- A wifi connection for your own laptop or mobile phone.
- Pocket money wages at £50 per week.
We calculate the value of this package as follows;
Half board accomodation bill inclusive : £145 per week
Pocket money : £50
WFi access : £5
Total £200
This is equivalent to £10 per hour for 20 hours work
